25-year-old University of Texas law student Cody R. Wilson is working on a way to make 3-D semiautomatic guns that are just as accurate and reliable as real ones.
Cory first uploaded a video to YouTube in late 2012 of him shooting one of his homemade AR-15's 6 times before breaking.
Wilson makes the design for the Distributed Defense's lower receivers in CAD files. Inside the CAD files are 3-D models of the receivers that are printed out from 3-D printers. They can take up to 7 hours to print.
As of now, there are no regulations for 3-D printed guns because the ATF says there isn't enough information on the subject yet. That means that they aren't illegal, but they aren't completely legal.
